DataWeb Success Story: Tacoma Sports

The “click and play” nature of DataWeb’s technology allows people to craft web based software applications that are built to their specific requirements and unique “from the ground up”. One such application is www.tacomasports.com The metropolitan community looked to the site for scheduling information for local sports teams and events. DataWeb offered an opportunity to extend the reach of the website, allowing local citizens to reserve venues for specific community events and to receive and answer questions from local youth sports teams and associations.

A big advantage to DataWeb, according to Jon Graef who engineered and built www.tacomasports.com, is that DataWeb is easy to access and does not require a high degree of experience to build sophisticated, interactive websites. Jon found the Support Team at DataWeb very helpful whenever he ran into a question. Everything he needed was accessed directly thru a standard web browser, he did not have to use technical resources to get his award winning application built and delivered.

Different organizations throughout the County are authorized to upload information unique to their organization. The Parks Department, for example, can post the schedule for upcoming swim meets and easily maintain tournament schedules online. Also, designated community based administrators to post scores on games as they are completed. This helps to build community, while keeping the content current and interesting.

  1. I see an opportunity here for organizations of any size to create database applications for the cloud. A small business, or an entrepreneur with an idea, can launch an application that makes a process easier - just like Jon did with tacomasports.com It is about time that business can collaborate using Access files. One advantage is sharing data with partners in order to be more efficient.
